The Owyhee Off-Road Challenge is a 5K, 10K and half-marathon held annually in early spring. Sponsored by the Adrian Sports Boosters, it is a fundraiser for a new track at the high school. Since 2014, Adrian High School students have won four state championships in track, even without the ability to practice on proper equipment.
Starting at Two Rivers Park in Adrian, runners and walkers head south on Highway 201 for about a mile before heading into the picturesque Owyhee Mountains. Those who brave the half-marathon get to enjoy gorgeous views of the valley from a rock formation known as Rimrock before heading deep into the hills.
Registration for the 2020 race is currently open. The race has been rescheduled, and will be held now on September 26. For more information and to register, visit http://owyheeoffroadchallenge.com
